Saint Philomena
Saint Philomena, so very sweet and at the same time full of conviction and fierce courage. She is shown here holding the tool of her suffering. It was these things that brought her closer to Christ. May we all have the eyes to see our own suffering in this way.
The original work on raw wood was commissioned by The AVODAH Collective in Denver, CO. Avodah provides space for women survivors of sex trafficking, families, and young people to find restoration through the creative act of farming, compassionate and supportive housing, with the integration of teaching and prayer.
I was honored to pray for these women while I worked. Women who will be standing in front of this image.
Saint Philomena, pray for us.
