Mount Sinai

Traveling to high places to meet God is a common theme throughout the bible. One of the earliest high places was Mount Sinai, where Moses met God and received the Ten Commandments. Where faith and geology meet is a profound thing to contemplate. I love how carnal our theology is. I love that there are physical places we can travel to have an encounter with God.

Today, at the base of this holy site, you will find one of the world's oldest working monasteries, Saint Catherine's. Here is saved a treasure trove of ancient sacred text books and icons from the early church.
